You have most likely heard of the new changes that came into force on 25th May 2018 regarding data privacy regulations. The main purpose is to protect citizens’ data privacy and to control how organisations gather and control data held and used. Personal Data is any information about a living individual that is capable of identifying him/her.
The personal data regarding parishioners which is held in this church consists of:
· Names
· Addresses
· Baptism, Marriage and Burial Records
· Freewill Offering, Restoration Account and Gift Aid details
The personal data regarding employees which is held in this church consists of:
· Names
· Addresses
· Other contact details
· National Insurance Number
· Income Tax Details
· Banking Details
Any data held is obtained directly from parishioners/employees and not by any other means. The church of St Mary Magdalene has a legitimate interest in holding all such details. However, please be assured that this data is held securely and is not accessible by anyone other than those who require access for recording procedures.
Apart from Gift Aid details, which may have to be declared to the Charities’ Commission, parishioners’ personal data will never be shared or disclosed to any other party.
However, in the case of employees only, it is a legal obligation to pass information as required to Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC).
Any parishioner/employee has a right to view personal data held and to have it amended or deleted. To do so, please put a request in writing to one of the General Data Protection Officers listed below.
